Netherzoo is the film production company of Jennifer Saura, a Spanish-American filmmaker. She began her career as a development assistant at Roger Corman’s New Horizons Pictures, where she worked on creature features and camp horror films such as Sharktopus and Splatter. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright grant to shoot a video documentary series in Buenos Aires, and went on to produce a series of shorts documenting New York City public spaces as part of her master’s degree studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Before transitioning into narrative filmmaking, she worked as a product designer at Peacock TV and Disney Streaming, and served as Assistant Cartoon Editor at The New Yorker. Her current filmmaking practice explores psychological and supernatural horror, as seen through a distinctly female-focused lens. Her short narrative films have screened at festivals such as Screamfest LA, Chattanooga Film Festival, Revelation Perth International Film Festival, and Knoxville Horror Film Fest, among others.
